Now that we are well into summer, here is hope starting to bloom that this pandemic will soon be under control.
‘Carnation’ by Derek Mathews
Derek was inspired to paint this during an art class looking at the work of Georgia O’Keeffe.
Derek says, "I decided to zoom in on one flower in a spray of carnations. The single small flower fills the painting. The detail drove me mad. I was glad to have used the grid method, as this helped make transferring the shapes and colours much more manageable."
